Hypnos is a deep-sleep power management module for the Raspberry Pi Pico, with a built-in real-time clock. It lets the Pico enter a much lower-power sleep state than it can achieve on its own.
On its own, a Pico’s sleep current is still too high for long-term battery use. Hypnos lets the Pico fully power down when idle, then wake only when needed—on a schedule or by a button. That suits duty-cycled work where the Pico only needs to run briefly, such as:
By cutting idle power, Hypnos can stretch battery life from days to weeks or months.
Software sleep modes leave the Pico partly on. Hypnos physically manages power and wake-up with an RTC, so you get much lower sleep current, reliable time-based wake-ups, and a simple path into battery-powered designs.
If a project spends most of its time sleeping, Hypnos can make long-term, battery-powered Pico work practical.
| Signal | Pico GPIO | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| SDA | 20 | I2C data to the RTC |
| SCL | 21 | I2C clock |
| DONE | 22 | Tells Hypnos the Pico is finished and can power down |
